Hello people.
As you folks may already be aware I am trying to secure a ground in central England to develope, to be able to cater for shooters with all ranges of disabilities.
If on your travels could you make a note of grounds that have facilities suitable for disabled shooters.
For example Ramped access to club houses and large entrances to toilet facilities, and so on.
I speak to Paul Pantzer a senior member of the Sussex DCSG (Disabled Clay Shooters Group) And he is also involved with the ISCD ( International Shooting Committee for Disabled)on a regular basis regarding access for disable shooters. Paul can be contacted any time via the website below.
I/we are looking to buy/lease land to set up a trap circuit and sporting layout.
This would be a permanent ground not only for disabled shooters but able bodied shooters as well.
Ideally it would be in Buckinghamshire and could eventually be the "home " ground for Bucks shooters alike.
Any idea's or contacts would be gratefully recieved.
Thanks for your time.
To get to the Sussex DCSG go to www.sussexcpsa.com and press the blue menue button. The direct link at the moment has a problem so this is the best way to get to it.

Can't help you with Clay shooting, but I have a mate who gets around on 1 or 2 shoots with a modified Quad. First time on mine, last drive, leant over too far backwards for a bird and blew himself off quad. Non of us, including him, nearly Pi**ed ourselves laughing. I stopped with him all day to make sure he's ok. Handy for a lift too |

If sywell had ramped access to the clubhouse they'd be sorted apart from the bogs, mind you they're not fit for able bodied people either _________________ TTFN

The Disabled Shooters Group use Sporting Targets at Riseley because of the accessibility round the ground and clubhouse plus they have the electric golf buggies which must be an assistance. _________________ Happiness is warm barrels! |

After visiting Broomhills today should also point out they're fully disabled friendly from an access point of view to stands. Shop, toilets and food would need some limited work as they're all stepped access tho, _________________ TTFN

All respect to Broomhills. They are working on the installation of ramps.
They are seeking advise from local authorities etc, this is of course causing delays. _________________ Level: Began March 07

I do not argue for the sake of arguing, as you might have thought by my recent posts about kids.
I think what you are trying to achieve for disable groups is more than commendable.
There are many soldiers disabled by their duties, and little is thought of the way they must suffer the indifference of a large proportion of the general public.
Every disabled person, deserves the right to a quality life, and if shooting gives them a sense of worth, there should be no reason why they should not have the facilities.
It's the few people like yourself that make a difference.
You should feel proud. |

I am Partialy disabled and can just get around our clay ground providing I take my time, some days are better than others i wish i had a quad to use but im sure the short walk does me some good
shooting is in my blood and it's one of my great motivators, giving up shooting isn't an option even though it's a struggle some times |

South wales 2000 is good for wheelchair access, bit slopey as on a mountain, but all paths are conrete, clubhouse is ramped and has a disabled toilet. Its also a very friendly ground with helpfull staff.
Griffin lloyd shooting ground has a level access clubhouse and stone roads so you can drive your car to nearly all the sporting stands, again a very helpfull and friendly ground, no disabled loo at present, but Im sure its only a matter of time as the owner JK is one of the nicest and most helpfull chaps I have met in the sport. |
